    Is it okay to use unleaded gas without additives in a 1971 Cadillac Eldorado and not do any harm whatsoever to the engine?

    Leaded gas was last used in 1974. A lead substitute is inexpensive. So although some would say it is not necessary, I always use it on any car built prior to 1975.

    I've run my 1970 DeVille on unleaded since 1976 and it hasn't been an issue. It's at 101,000 miles and it purrs. Mechanics have told me that it's okay as long as the engine isn't pushed too hard.
